Already in Canada?

Immigration Help Inside Canada

Whether your status has lapsed, you received a refusal, or you need to extend your stay—Imprint Immigration Services helps people already in Canada navigate complex situations with a licensed RCIC-IRB.

Many of Imprint’s clients come to us after something has already gone wrong—an expired permit, a refusal, a missing restoration window, or a change in circumstances that affected their status. These situations are manageable, but they require careful handling. Acting on incomplete information can make things worse.

Restoration of Status

If your temporary resident status (visitor, worker, or student) expired and you are still in Canada, you may be able to restore it within 90 days of expiry. Restoration has strict deadlines—contact us immediately if your status has lapsed.

Temporary Resident Permits (TRP)

A TRP can allow you to enter or remain in Canada temporarily despite an inadmissibility issue. TRPs require compelling reasons to justify the benefit over the risk. Shirani prepares the legal justification for TRP applications.

Inland Spousal Sponsorship

If your partner is already in Canada on a valid permit, you can apply for spousal sponsorship and open work permit together. This is one of the most common pathways for couples already in Canada.

Humanitarian & Compassionate (H&C)

H&C applications allow individuals to apply for PR from inside Canada based on hardship, establishment, and the best interests of any children involved. These applications require compelling documentary evidence.

Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA)

If you have received a removal order and have new evidence of risk in your home country, a PRRA may be available. PRRA eligibility and timing are strictly controlled—contact Shirani as soon as a removal order is issued.

Permit Renewals & Extensions

Visitor record, work permit, and study permit renewals must be filed before expiry. Implied status applies when you apply before your current status expires—but only for the same type of permit. Shirani reviews your status before advising.

Inadmissibility & Admissibility Hearings

If CBSA has determined you may be inadmissible on criminality, health, or security grounds, you may face an admissibility hearing at the Immigration Division (ID). Shirani is authorized to represent clients at ID hearings.

Immigration Appeals (IAD)

The Immigration Appeal Division hears appeals of sponsorship refusals, removal orders, and residency obligation decisions. Shirani’s RCIC-IRB licence authorizes her to represent clients in IAD appeals.

Study & Work Permit Changes

Change of conditions, changes to employer, school, or program, and transitions between permit types all require careful handling to avoid unauthorized work or study violations.

Status Issues Are Time-Sensitive

Restoration of status is only available within 90 days of expiry. Miss that window and the path to regularizing your situation becomes significantly more complex. If your permit has already expired or you are unsure of your current status, contact us today.

Common In-Canada Immigration Questions

I overstayed my visitor visa. What can I do?

You may be able to apply for Restoration of Status within 90 days of your visitor record or authorized stay expiring. If you miss the 90-day window, your options are significantly more limited and may involve a Humanitarian & Compassionate application or departure. Act immediately—the clock is running.

I received a removal order. Do I have to leave Canada right away?

The type of removal order matters: a departure order gives you 30 days; a deportation order is permanent. You may have appeal rights depending on the type of order. Shirani can review the removal order, advise on your appeal options, and represent you at the Immigration Appeal Division if eligible.

What is implied status and does it protect me?

Implied status allows you to maintain the conditions of your existing permit while waiting for IRCC to decide on a renewal application—but only if you applied before your current permit expired and for the same type of permit (e.g., renewing a work permit, not switching from a visitor to a work permit). If you are unsure whether implied status applies to you, contact Imprint before assuming you are covered.
