Permanent Residence — PNP

Provincial Nominee Program Edmonton

A provincial nomination adds 600 points to your CRS score—effectively guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply. Shirani Daniel, RCIC-IRB, helps Edmonton-area clients identify and pursue the right PNP stream.

PNP Pathways to Permanent Residence

Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs allow individual provinces and territories to nominate immigrants who meet their specific economic or community needs. As an Alberta resident or a candidate interested in settling in Alberta, you may be eligible through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) or one of the other PNP streams across Canada.

A provincial nomination certificate is highly valuable: combined with an Express Entry profile, it adds 600 CRS points to your score. Outside of Express Entry, many PNP streams operate as direct-to-PR pathways with their own application processes through IRCC.

PNP Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for a provincial nomination if I am not yet in Canada?

Yes. Many PNP streams—including the AAIP Express Entry Stream and several other provincial programs—are open to applicants outside Canada. The key requirements vary by stream: some require a job offer in the province, while others target Express Entry candidates with a connection to the province.

How do I choose between Express Entry and a direct PNP stream?

For many applicants, an Express Entry-linked PNP nomination is the most efficient path because it adds 600 CRS points and maintains federal processing timelines. Direct PNP streams (outside the Express Entry pool) are better suited to applicants who do not meet federal minimums or whose NOC/TEER code is not eligible under the three main federal programs. Shirani reviews both options in your initial consultation.

Does Imprint Immigration handle PNP applications for provinces other than Alberta?

Yes. While Imprint is based in Edmonton and has deep expertise in AAIP, Shirani advises clients on PNP streams across all provinces including Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and British Columbia, depending on the candidate's profile and ties to specific provinces.

What is the difference between a PNP nomination and a provincial job offer?

A provincial nomination is issued by the province after a formal application process and holds significant immigration value (600 CRS points if Express Entry-linked). A job offer from an employer in a province does not automatically result in a nomination; however, a qualifying job offer is often required as part of the nomination application.
